Finding Media
The MLB Video Portal stores a variety of media files for you to access, preview and download. Searching through the content is made easy, as MLB have added enhanced and structured metadata to imagery and video content to make it more discoverable.
Searching & Filtering using Keywords
You will see a search bar at the top of the platform. You may search for content using keywords, such as a player's name, a location, event or date.
Once you have entered a search term, you will see a list of results matching your search. Here, you may click on a result or further narrow down your search by adding another keyword or by adding a metadata filter.
Browsing for Media
The MLB Video Portal provides a few different journeys to discover content on the Portal. These include shortcuts at the top of the screen, teams & classic formats, as well a shortcuts on the homepage to different formats such as Game Recaps, MLB Originals and Season Promos.
Previewing Media
The MLB Video Portal allows for the online preview of media files, this means that you can view a low-resolution, web-friendly version of content in the portal before deciding to download files.
Record Page & Information
Each piece of media held in the Video Portal is attached to a Record entry, which features the additional information attached to the media file. It is this information (metadata) that is searched through when browsing the platform. You may see additional information alongside an image or video, in the form of annotations. Clicking on an annotation will either:
- jump you to a moment in a video, or
- highlight a linked area in an image
