Finding Media
The MLB Video Portal stores a variety of media files for you to access, preview and download. Searching through the content is made easy, as MLB have added enhanced and structured metadata to imagery and video content to make it more discoverable.
Searching & Filtering using Keywords
You will see a search bar at the top of the platform. You may search for content using keywords, such as a player's name, a location, event or date.
Once you have entered a search term, you will see a list of results matching your search. Here, you may click on a result or further narrow down your search by adding another keyword or by adding a metadata filter.
Browsing for Media
The MLB Video Portal provides a few different journeys to discover content on the Portal. These include shortcuts at the top of the screen, teams & classic formats, as well a shortcuts on the homepage to different formats such as Game Recaps, MLB Originals and Season Promos.
Previewing Media
The MLB Video Portal allows for the online preview of media files, this means that you can view a low-resolution, web-friendly version of content in the portal before deciding to download files.
Record Page & Information
Each piece of media held in the Video Portal is attached to a Record entry, which features the additional information attached to the media file. It is this information (metadata) that is searched through when browsing the platform. You may see additional information alongside an image or video, in the form of annotations. Clicking on an annotation will either:
- jump you to a moment in a video
- or
- highlight a linked area in an image

Downloading Full Media
The MLB Video Portal allows you to retrieve the full resolution originals of files you preview on the site. When viewing a Record Page (which presents detailed information about the media you are viewing and a large preview), you will see a beside the main title. Clicking this will reveal a ' Download media' option.
If you do not see the Download option: ensure you are logged in, are viewing the media Record Page (as per the visual below) and contact an MLB Video Portal representative if you believe you should be able to download the media.
When downloading, you may offered the choice to download using Imagen AFD. This additional app (for Windows and Mac OS) allows you to benefit from accelerated file transfers and options around multi-download of clips and multiple files attached to a single record. Read our instructions on Setting up and using AFD for more information.
You may be offered a variety of quality options when you download from the MLB Video Portal. These are:
- Original Video ; this qualifies the video file in full quality as it was submitted to the platform.
- Original Image ; this qualifies the full resolution Image at original quality (higher quality than the previews you have online)
- Original Audio ; this is the original Audio File as it was submitted to the Digital Portal.
- Original Document ; qualifies the original document hosted on the MLB Video Portal.
- New Social Renditions are now available for download and auto resizes the video to 4:5, 1:1, and 9:16. To download these formats see sections about Clipping and Downloading video clips.
Clipping from videos
The MLB Video Portal allows users to clip extracted portions and download alternate renditions of videos. This is useful when you only need a shortened segment of the video or need alternate aspect ratio renditions for social platform settings.
Marking up a clip
When previewing a video on MLB Video Portal, you will be able to see the small Scissors icon in the bottom right hand of the player beside the full screen view option ().
You may then adjust your clip duration by dragging the yellow handles which appear on the extended timeline view, with the left-hand IN point and right-hand OUT point. You may also right-click and drag to highlight a section, or use keyboard shortcuts:
i mark IN from from playhead position
o mark OUT from playhead position
j shuttle backwards
k stop shuttle
l shuttle forwards
Clip Settings
You can decide to set a custom name to your clip by clicking on the name of it Clip from [Media Name], and mark up several clips as needed with the New Clip button.
Clips are not saved until you order them for download or add them as bookmarks in collections, but may be kept in memory in the clipping interface if you revisit media you have previously clipped.
Downloading Clips and Social Renditions
If you do not want to download the full media or want to download an alternate aspect ratio, you can mark up clips for download. This allows you to set an IN and OUT points within a video to only download that extract as a new file (see Clipping From Videos Section). You must order clips to download for the MLB Video Portal to automatically create your new, transcoded extract. Processing and clips which are ready for you to download appear in your Account Page
Option 1: Ordering a Clip for Download whilst Clipping
When clipping a video will instruct the MLB Video Portal to create new transcoded files from the marked up clip(s).In this view you will have options for original and alternate aspect ratios for social platform use.
Option 2: Ordering a Clip for Download from a Saved Bookmarked/Collection in your Account Page
When viewing a Collection of saved clips & media, you will have the option to jump into each clip and order a download from the clip view page. Additionally, you may batch order all clips within a collection for download by using the record options in your Collections Page and choosing button and choosing
Ordering clips for download for another user
You may also create orders for downloads for other users of the platform. These orders will appear in both your and their Account page to download. You will need to inform their email address to proceed to ordering.
- When clipping, click on then select .
- When ordering dowloads from collections, the option appears below the personal download option as seen above.
Downloading Processed Orders
When your files ares ready to download, you will receive an email notification. To download your orders, you will need to go to your Account page and choose which orders to download.
You may be prompted to Setup & Use Imagen AFD - this tool allows you to benefit from accelerated file downloads and multi-downloads from Records. If you have Imagen AFD configured, you may instruct the platform to automatically download orders when ready. Visit the section about AFD on this page to find out more.
Personal Boomarks & Notifications
The MLB Video Portal allows users to quickly bookmark full media, clips and searches to allow you to quickly return to interesting content when required.
Bookmarking Media & Clips Into Collections
Users can create an unlimited number of Collections, which group together shortcuts to media and marked up clips held in the MLB Video Portal. Users may also share Collections with other groups or users, or decide that all users may see their collection by sharing it publicly. When sharing collections, other users accessing your bookmarks if they are already allowed by PGA to see the content.
On a record page (where you preview media and see extended metadata below), you may add the media & record metadata to a collection by choosing the option within the record options (within the menu). This will create a bookmark to the record page and media within.
Whilst clipping from videos you may bookmark extracts you have marked up by clicking the . This will create a Clip View for each of your clips which will present just that extract to playback with associated metadata, and provide a link back to the 'Parent' full media record.
From Search Results, you may add results to collections using the   icon, or multi select results to add multiple results to a collection. This will add media to your collection in the same way as from the record page.
Accessing Collections of Bookmarks
You may access your bookmarked media and Collections in two ways. Either:
- Click on the Search Bar and choose the ' My Collections' option, or
- Visit your Account page to see the Collections section there .
Created Saved Searches
Saved Searches allow you to store the search criteria you use to find results to quickly check for new content matching your requirement
Simply Perform a Search on the PGA Digital Platform click on the icon beside the number of search results. Provide a Name, and click 'Save'. Your Saved Search will now appear when you click on the Main Search Bar, and you may re-run this at any time.
Receiving Notifications When New Content is Added to Saved Searches
When saving a search, you will see a checkbox option to choose to 'Get emails about new matching results'. If you check this box, you will see options as regards the frequency of email notifications. You may choose
- As it happens ; as soon as new results are available matching your search criteria, you will receive an email notification with a link to the new media.
- Daily ; a digest of the day's new additions will be emailed, inviting you to visit your saved search to see new results. This is sent at the time at which you save your Search and elect to receive notifications.
- Weekly ; a digest of the week's new additions will be emailed, inviting you to visit your saved search to see new results. This is sent on the day and at the time at which you save your Search and elect to receive notifications.
To manage your Saved Searches and update notification frequency preferences, simply click on the Search Bar and choose the 'Manage ' option. Here you can change the frequency of notifications, disable notifications, delete the Saved Search or create an MRSS feed from a Saved Search (permissions allowing).

Accelerated File Delivery (AFD)
AFD stands for Accelerated File Delivery, and is a free piece of software from Imagen which allows you to benefit from multi-channel downloads to get your media & files faster from the MLB Video Portal. Using this software, you can link computers to your MLB Vide Portal account and send downloads to linked machines. You can read more details about AFD and the benefits of it here.
Setup and Linking to your Account
1. Download & Install* AFD

*To install AFD on your device, you will need to have administrator privileges.
2. Link your MLB Video Portal Account
Launch the AFD App, and follow the first time setup instructions. When prompted for a site address, enter https://media.mlb.com and the App will then ask you to log into the App using your MLB Video Portal Account Details.
Once linked, you may give your linked computer a custom name to easily identify it, for instance Edit Suite 1.
Click on the Settings cogwheel and change the user-friendly name field. This name will identify your linked machine on MLB Video Portal, something which will be useful if you link multiple machines to your account.
3. Linking A Second Machine to Your Account
Simply repeat steps 1 & 2 on another Desktop or Laptop Computer, and specify a different user-friendly name to differentiate the machines.
4. Linking A Second Account on a Single Machine with AFD
You may link multiple user accounts to a single AFD destination. To add another user account to an already configured AFD setup, click on the Sites option in the left hand column and select the Add a site option to connect another User's MLB Video Portal account. They will need to provide their passwrd as you configure their account.
Downloading Using AFD
Downloading via AFD allows you to download from the MLB Video Portal faster than via your browser, and you may project download to linked online devices rather than have to download on same machine you are browsing from.
